Certainly, in his final hours, Carl stressed Siddiq’s importance to the group, while Siddiq himself promised to live the rest of his life honoring Carl’s bravery. Given that the phrase was first uttered by Siddiq (“May my mercy prevail over my wrath” in the season premiere), and will eventually be uttered by Rick at some point in the future, it seems fair to guess that these two men will have a conversation at some point in the next batch of Walking Dead episodes. (To be clear, Sunday’s “tree scene” was the largest glimpse of the “red-eye Rick” scene first seen in the season eight premiere.) I am saying that if you do the arithmetic, that scene plays out not in Carl’s imagination because Rick has already said something that exists in the real story, which is, ‘my mercy prevails under my wrath.’ So it is a real thing.” I’m not saying that that’s actually happening. Lincoln stops short of confirming the scene means Rick’s days are numbered, but adds, “ what it looks like. The fact that I’m equating something, I think, probably gives you an impression that it exists in the real world of the show.” That gives an indication that that, in this scene, is not a premonition. The fact that Rick says something under the tree - a reference to a real scene that has already played out in the reality of the world,” says Lincoln, “that harkens back to an earlier scene. If you subtract that from the first episode, you’re left with the scene under the tree. If you can survive that entrance you’ll be just fine on The Walking Dead.“Now that you’ve seen the episode, you realize that so much of what was seen in the season eight premiere was a premonition - or a vision - of Carl’s hopes or ideas for the future. As All Out War comes down one last battle between Negan and The Saviors and Rick and the community alliance a doctor who can fight is going to be an extremely valuable resource. Even though he points out that he was just a resident, a resident is an MD with extensive general medical knowledge.Įven though Siddiq might not have a lot of practical experience treating patients it’s safe to assume he’s going to get that pretty quickly. He knows how to survive obviously because he’s been on his own for awhile and has managed to stay alive. But eventually Rick will return to his rational state of mind and realize what a valuable asset Siddiq is. In fact Siddiq might be better off laying low at The Hilltop for awhile and keeping an eye on Maggie. Rick may not welcome Siddiq with open arms right away. But will he truly be able to let his mercy prevail over his wrath? And will that wrath get directed at Siddiq? People Are A Resource, Especially People With Medical Training He promised Carl that he would do whatever it takes to make Carl’s vision of society a reality. He has a lot of grief and anger to work through. What the bridge really means to Rick Grimes in The Walking Deadīut after losing Carl it’s safe to assume that Rick isn’t going to be putting down that Colt revolver anytime soon. How Dwight might meet the other characters in Fear The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead Father’s Day edition: King Ezekiel’s top 5 life lessons.Ranking every season of The Walking Dead from worst to best.Carl’s vision is for all of the survivors, including Negan and The Saviors, to find a way to live together and work together to build a functioning and peaceful society. Carl’s Last WishĬarl’s dying wish was for Rick to put down his gun when the war is over and return to being Farmer Rick like he was in the beginning of season 4. But Rick is now grieving and angry, and it would be easy for that anger to be directed at Siddiq. That definitely helps his case to be welcomed into the group. And doctors are in very short supply in The Walking Dead world. And then it was revealed that Siddiq is a doctor. Awkward.Ĭarl told Rick that he wanted the group to welcome Siddiq. So the first time that Rick properly meets Siddiq is when Carl reveals that he’s been bitten and it happened when he was helping Siddiq. And still Carl brought Siddiq back to Alexandria and had him hide in the sewer tunnel until he could convince Rick to let Siddiq join them. Then Carl went back to where he saw Siddiq to bring him some food and ended up getting bitten killing walkers with Siddiq. Rick never wanted to bother with Siddiq when he and Carl first came across him. Siddiq has probably the worst entrance of all time when it comes to timing on The Walking Dead. By Sonya Iryna 5 years ago Siddiq’s arrival on The Walking Dead couldn’t really have come at a worse time but he’s got a lot to contribute to the group if Rick accepts him.
